DK yarn in bright yellow and light yellow
3mm crochet hook
Stitch marker
Yarn needle

18 gauge florist wire- comes in standard length- 36cm
Green florist tape (this is crepe paper with wax on it which becomes sticky from the warmth of your fingers and when stretched)
Abbreviations (US crochet terms):

ch- chain
mr- magic ring
sl st- slip stitch
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
tr- treble crochet
inc- increase
Middle piece, in bright yellow:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)
Rnd 2: inc in every st (12)
Rnds 3-4 (2 rnds): sc in every st (12)
Rnd 5: (sc in nxt 3 st, inc) x3 (15)

Rnds 9-10 (2 rnds): sc in every st (18)
Rnd 11: (sc in nxt 5 st, inc) x3 (21)
Rnd 12: (sl st in nxt st, ch 2, dc in same st, sl st in nxt st) repeat all around, sl st in last st.
Fasten off and weave tail into the back of the stitches on the inside of the frills.
Petals- make 6 in light yellow:
Rnd 1: ch 13, starting in 2nd st from hook: sc in nxt 3 st, hdc in nxt st, dc in nxt 2 st, 2 tr in nxt st, dc in nxt 2 st, hdc in nxt 2 st, 2 sc in last st, work on other side of chain: 2 sc in nxt st, hdc in nxt 2 st, dc in nxt 2 st, 2 tr in nxt st, dc in nxt 2 st, hdc in nxt st, sc in nxt 3 st
Put marker in last st you did
Rnd 2: sl st in every st
Fasten off leaving tail for sewing, weave the short tail into the back of the stitches, trim excess close to work.
Sew all of the petals to rnd 2 of the middle piece, making sure the right side is facing outwards. Sew a couple of stitches for each petal and then fasten off by picking up a loop from a st, pull through but not all the way, leave a loop and go through loop from behind, pull tight to make a knot. Then weave all of the ends through the middle piece, when you've sewn every petal on, line up all of the ends and trim them near to the end of the frills. These will look like the bits inside a daffodil.
Stem:
Take the florist wire and measure 5cm from the end, bend downwards at this point, then push the straight end through the middle of the magic ring in the middle piece, and then push the short end through a space between the stitches right next to it, pull through all the way.
Then hold the short piece against the long piece, take the florist tape and wrap it around both of these pieces, start at the top and first wrap around a single piece of wire to get started and then wrap around both. Wrap tightly and pull the tape at an angle so that it continues to go down the entire length of the wire. When you get to the bottom, cut the tape at an angle and fold end upwards. Then wrap another layer of tape up the full length of the wire again, from the bottom up. Cut tape at an angle and squash down.
Then bend the wire at a slight angle, where the end of the 5cm piece is.
Now your daffodils are finished and you can put them in your favourite vase, you can push the middle of the petals out from the back with your fingers so that they stick out instead of curling around.
